More About SoulFuelBBQ
With heavier traffic going off and coming on the installation during lunchtime, more often than not people find themselves looking for lunchtime meals on Fort Campbell which is home of the 101st Airborne Division.
However, eating the same thing for lunch day after day can get boring and time-consuming, except for the convenience of a menu of barbecue, beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs and fries with an outdoor restaurant from a firetruck.
To offer additional food options, the Fort Campbell Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) has several food concessions in the form of food trucks and food stands, and one of the best is Soul Fuel BBQ with a stellar grill master.
AAFES offers the food trucks on post to offer more variety for the Fort Campbell community, to provide quick and easy options, and to offer convenience to Soldiers who are unable to leave their buildings or only have limited time for lunch. One that stands out is Everett Burbridge and his fleet of BBQ Fire Trucks, ready to quench the hunger of active soldiers.
Every food truck on the installation also works with units, so if a unit is hosting an event, they can contact AAFES to schedule a day and time for the food truck to come and directly serve them at their location with sufficient trucks for the demand.
Soul Fuel BBQ, is located in the Town Center parking lot, Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., they offer beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches, as well as smoked sausage, barbecue ribs and plenty of side choices.
Soul Fuel BBQ has a long-term contract, which means they will continue to serve food on the installation for up to five years.
It is hard to argue over ribs so tender they melt your mouth or say an unkind word when you are sinking your teeth into a succulent turkey leg, beef brisket, pulled pork or fries.
Food doesn’t just feed the body, it nourishes the soul when shared with others, and anything barbecued, just makes the occasion enjoyable, even if it is in the middle of a busy day.
“You can always solve any problem over food,” says Everett Burbridge, owner of Soul Fuel BBQ. “Food is good for the soul.” It was this thought that inspired the name of his restaurant.
Soul Fuel BBQ serves up ribs, wings, turkey legs, beef brisket and so much more, with no meat being smoked less than four hours. “It’s right or not at all,” Everett, an Army veteran, said.
Many days of the week you can see Everett atop his retired 1967 Howe Defender fire truck that he got from Philadelphia and transformed into a mobile barbecue pit. Everett performed a restoration and customization miracle, converting a fire truck into a barbecue catering machine.
“It’s definitely a conversation starter,” he said when serving wings and Kool-Aid out of it during the Juneteenth celebration at Bradley Academy and Cultural Museum earlier in the month.
All of the recipes for the delicious barbecue came from his aunt, who is now 96-years-old, “and still cookin’,” Everett said.
Another specialty is ribs but you can get other smoked barbecue meat, along with sweet potato fries, fire-roasted vegetables, grilled chicken. “We are trying to do things that other businesses aren’t,” Everett said.
